Lu Bo Lang is located beside Nine-Turn Bridge at Shanghai’s Old City God Temple. Its original site was a pavilion in the West Garden of Yuyuan Garden during the Jiajing reign of the Ming dynasty, and it was officially converted into a restaurant in 1979. The three-storey building features a Ming- and Qing-style design, with views of Nine-Turn Bridge and the lotus pond from its windows. It is known for state banquets and boat-shaped dim sum, and has hosted more than 40 delegations of foreign heads of state, including Clinton and Elizabeth II, earning the reputation “a single bite delights the world”. Dim sum is its signature, with classics including eyebrow-shaped pastries, osmanthus rice cake and crab roe xiaolongbao.
