About This Place
Dough modelling, commonly known as making dough figures or dough flowers, is a traditional Chinese folk craft passed down for a thousand years. Using flour and glutinous rice flour as the main materials, with glycerine, preservatives, and other ingredients added to create flexible dough in different colours, artisans use only their fingers and simple tools such as bamboo knives and combs. Through techniques including pinching, rolling, kneading, lifting, and carving, ordinary dough can be shaped within minutes into lifelike figures, animals, flowers, and birds.
