Shanghai Zoo, formerly known as Xijiao Park, is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and one of China’s top ten zoos. It is an urban zoo dedicated to wildlife research, integrated conservation, science education, ecological conservation awareness, and cultural leisure. Covering 74 hectares, it houses and displays more than 5,000 rare and precious wild animals from over 470 species. In recent years, it has introduced special programmes including wildlife enrichment, behavioural training, science talks, and interactive activities. Ticket sales and entry times for ticketed visitors: March to October: 08:00 - 17:00; November to February: 08:00 - 16:30. In special circumstances, please refer to on-site announcements.
