[Book for 10 or more · Book at least 3 days in advance]: Walk along the two-kilometre, century-old Yuyuan Road, seeing historic architecture and Shanghai-style local life among cafés and old villas.
Product Introduction
Yuyuan Road is just over 2,000 metres long, yet it holds half of Shanghai’s modern history. It brings together dozens of architectural styles, including Art Deco, Spanish villas and French Renaissance architecture. Famous figures such as Qian Xuesen, Mei Lanfang, Cai Yuanpei and Shen Junru once left traces of their lives here.
This mini tour is entirely on foot, with no city transport throughout. Starting from the Shanghai Cohesion Project Museum, the route passes in order the former site of the Bolshevik Editorial Office, the former residence of Zhang Bojun, the former residence of Rewi Alley, the former residence of Dong Zhujun, the former residence of Shen Junru and the former residence of Wang Boqun. You will enter Yuyuan Road Public Market to experience the everyday atmosphere of the community, stop at the Yuyuan Road Wall of Historic Figures to read the famous names connected with this road, pass Hongye Garden and the former residence of Qian Xuesen, and finally arrive at Yuyuan Department Store at No. 1018 Yuyuan Road, formerly the residence of writer Shi Zhecun and now a shared space for cafés, Chinese trend brands and galleries. If venues along the route are open, you may enter for a visit. Among the buildings and stories, you can immerse yourself in a century of Shanghai-style cultural heritage.
