Shanghai Fire Museum is located at 229 West Zhongshan Road in Changning District, with a venue area of around 2,400 square metres. It meets leading domestic and advanced international professional standards. It began trial operation on 1 August 2007 and officially opened on 9 November. The museum houses more than 21,000 items, including many modern Shanghai firefighting artefacts of significant historical value, such as personal firefighting equipment from the early period of Shanghai’s opening as a port, fire engines and automated firefighting devices. Through its different exhibition areas, visitors can gain a comprehensive understanding of the origins, development and achievements of Shanghai’s fire service. The museum also has an advanced fire safety science education experience centre, equipped with high-tech facilities such as a 4D cinema, a virtual escape experience area and an interactive virtual fire laboratory, offering fire safety education and hands-on experiences for an immersive learning visit.
