Silk embroidery is a traditional Chinese art with a history of at least two to three thousand years in China. Shanghai silk embroidery is one branch of embroidery. Open and inclusive, it brings together the strengths of major Chinese embroidery traditions such as Gu embroidery, Su embroidery, and Xiang embroidery, and has developed its own distinctive artistic theory system.
