Xingguo Road Residence and Buildings 2, 3, 6 and 7 of Xingguo Hotel

The Xingguo Road Residence is located at 72 Xingguo Road, Changning District, Shanghai. Built in the British classical style, it has a classical composition divided into three horizontal and three vertical sections, with a roof clad in copper sheets, giving it the popular name “Copper House.” Its façade features long windows and white exterior walls built with tooled artificial stone. The lawns to the north and south are very open, and the grounds are planted with ancient and notable trees, including camphor, cedar, Chinese juniper, and five-needle pine, all witnesses to history. In 1989, it was listed as a Shanghai cultural relic protection site and an outstanding historic building of Shanghai. It is now used by Shanghai Xingguo Hotel Co., Ltd.
The heritage buildings within Xingguo Hotel also include Buildings 2, 3, 6, and 7, all of which are brick-and-timber structures that appear to have three storeys. Building 2 is in the British Victorian seaside architectural style, Building 6 is in the French style, and Buildings 3 and 7 are in a Western style.
