Imperial Yellow – 3‑Piece Wine Set

This porcelain set was used at the state banquets hosted by the Forbidden City for US President Donald Trump, and also at the reception for North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong‑un at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Its design draws directly from the decorative motifs of a Qianlong‑era yellow‑ground famille‑rose vase in the Forbidden City collection, which features interlocking floral scrolls and the Eight Auspicious Symbols – a pattern that embodies the regal grandeur of the imperial court. The piece also incorporates symbolic shapes and elements such as the ruyi (an S‑shaped talisman of good fortune), the gourd, and the bat, along with ornamental details like interlocking lotus scrolls, lingzhi fungus, the endless knot, and ruyi motifs – all of which convey blessings of happiness, longevity, and peace.

The set uses a relief‑enameling technique that gives the overglaze colours a more three‑dimensional, substantial, and solemn presence. This, combined with the brilliant Imperial Yellow glaze, results in a radiant, majestic, and powerfully impressive finish.
