Visit the steep Simatai Great Wall for views over Beijing’s outskirts, then explore Gubei Water Town’s traditional crafts and relaxed waterside setting.

Depart from your hotel in the morning.
Travel to Gubei Water Town (first stop).
After check-in and luggage storage at the Visitor Service Centre, visit the Simatai Xiaoshao Distillery to learn about traditional brewing methods and enjoy a free tasting. Then visit Yongshun Dye House to try DIY tie-dye and take photos in the colourful cloth-drying area. You may choose to visit the Escort Agency escape room for an exciting puzzle-solving game, or watch a shadow puppet show at the Shadow Play Theatre. Afterwards, stroll through the ancient town and enjoy the historic architecture along the way.
Lunch is at your own expense. We recommend the roast meat restaurant, where you can try Miyun roast pork.
Travel to Simatai Great Wall (second stop).
Simatai Great Wall preserves the style of the Ming Great Wall, with steep terrain and a magnificent setting. It is divided into eastern and western sections by Mandarin Duck Lake. To the north-west, it connects with Jinshanling Great Wall and preserves the original Great Wall ruins and landscape. At Watchtower No. 4, you can see many arrow holes. To reach the highest point, you need to climb the “Heavenly Ladder”.
After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel to rest.
